Aster Data Systems

Entagen and Aster Data Systems have established a research partnership to identify ways in which to apply Aster’s powerful nCluster technology in the bioinformatics arena. Investigators in research areas such as next-generation sequencing, cellular imaging and pharmacogenomics analysis are constantly confronted with severe challenges associated with the management and analysis of the vast amounts of data generated in these research areas. Aster Data Systems, spun out of Stanford University and backed by David Cherington and Sequoia Capital, has developed nCluster, a significant advance in data analytics platforms. nCluster provides key advantages such as linear, cost effective scalability, simple management and In-Database MapReduce analytics. The teams at Entagen and Aster Data are developing a range of bioinfromatics algorithms, such as short-read sequence assemblers, that will run seamlessly on nCluster platforms thereby providing a novel, highly-effective system for the management and analysis of very large-scale genomics data sets.
